Paul Marie Joseph, born 9th April 1884 was the son of Eugene Marie
François Desmier, Count of Chenon who died in 1913 and Comtesse Hélène
d’Estang. Georges married Jaqueline Piarron de Mondésir on the 26 November 1913.
An officer of the 118th Regiment of Infantry he was promoted Captain
in October 1914 and decorated with the Croix de Guerre, for bravery, mentioned in the Official Journal on 28th
January 1914 and again mentioned on the 8th February 1915. He was
acknowledged to have the gallantry, military qualities and admirable self composure expected of a
graduate of the St. Cyr Military Academy. He was killed whilst making a
reconnaissance close to the enemy lines at La Boisselle, during the battle of
the Somme on 3rd April 1914.
He had two brothers who both served in the army during the war, Robert, Corporal also of the 118th Regiment of Infantry who was made prisoner of the Germany Army in 1914 and Alain, brigadier (sergeant) in the 84th Regiment of Artillery.
